Sophy Pomeranc, a people’s person

Meet the events manager behind the savoir-faire and Pom’Action services.

Sophy Pomeranc likes to start from scratch and come up with everything herself. These are the challenges she has been committed to since the beginning of her career. “In all the companies where I worked, I always had to build everything from scratch. “Challenges motivate me; they are career and character builders“. Nothing more normal for a self-taught woman “states the Geneva based events manager.

With her baccalaureate in her pocket, Sophy leaves Paris for the United States, where she will spend a year improving her English. Back in France, she takes the odd jobs before joining a renowned press agency. She will do this job for almost 20 years; first, in the field design and fashion accessories, and then for “a luxury brand” in the ready-to-wear department.

A successful product launch in the watch industry opened the doors of the world’s leading luxury group, LVMH. “I’ve always been a very good saleswoman. I know how to sell and tell a story that will appeal to journalists … “For eight years, she worked in the Watches & Jewelry division in Paris.

At the time, the goal was to promote the new trend’s activity ” Dior Watches” and its models in the French and European media. Of course, there was everything to create, from concept development for the launching, to the plan of action and reporting through the creation and development of press releases in collaboration with Dior Couture. “I often say that I got a PhD in this domain, for this professional experience was formative,” smiled Sophy Pomeranc .

At LVMH, she acquires a know-how that accentuates her tenacity and thoroughness increasing her resilience to the pressures of the trade. The professional encounters shaped her as well. “I knew how to listen to others and I challenged myself to make progress and move forward … ” admits Sophy, whom recognizes in herself a strong character and an unwavering determination.

The success of the challenge

Reporting to the Marketing Department and being responsible of the press and public relations, she attended all “Business Review” and familiarised herself with marketing and sales approaches. Curious, she studied the watch mechanisms to better understand the product and give credibility to its story in front of the press. The excellent editorial and events media impact are a true testament to the success of the challenge.

But life has something in store for her somewhere else. This will be Switzerland and the city at the end of the lake. There, she must start once more from scratch. She accepts all invitations, all dinners where she increases her connections. This ability to not only develop, but maintain a network of contacts is another of her trademarks. Without ulterior motives or hypocrisy, she loves human relationships and knows very well how to be surrounded them, which in itself is an essential quality in the events trade.

After being scouted, she is then entrusted with the organisation of a political forum as well as a watch conference. One year, she becomes the intermediary between Baselworld and the independent exhibitors. She organised gala evenings, and for three years, she becomes a frequent traveller for private sales in Switzerland and Europe. This paved the way for her being sought after, so she founded Pom’Action in 2013 and obtained the trust of prestigious luxury brands. She provides them with a rare know-how and her ability to work in cross sectors.
